SIMPLY KOREAN: ROSE DUMPLINGS '장미만두'
How beautiful are these rose dumplings? I love mandu. In any shape or form. The filling for this recipe is from my grandmother- we sell these at my restaurants MOKBAR called 'halmoni dumplings'. It has been one of our best sellers since we opened the shop 8 years ago. It is so special because we make every single mandu by hand, the traditional way like my grandmother did it.
I have memories of making mandu with my family every new years, special holidays and occasions. It's the best family memory I have and it's an activity that is communal, fun and delicious.
Thought it would be super fun and beautiful to make these in the shape of a rose, perhaps to show the thought and heart of how muc...

SIMPLY KOREAN: WAGYU TTEOKGUK 'rice cake soup' 떡국
Просмотров 45 тыс.3 года назад
TTEOKGUK is a New Years day staple. This recipe is a twist on the traditional, with kalbi dumplings and shaved wagyu. It's decadent, refined, elevated version of the traditional dish. Hope you enjoy as much as the film crew did (Patooties Production)! Broth 1/2lb piece of brisket 3quarts of beef bone broth Dumplings 1lb ground beef 80/20 3cups garlic chives, chopped 3cloves garlic 1cup carameli...
SIMPLY KOREAN: KIMCHI SUJEBI 'hand-torn noodle soup' 김치수제비
Просмотров 30 тыс.3 года назад
Sujebi is the ultimate comfort dish. It gives me the warm fuzzies inside, because it brings me back to my halmoni's kitchen. I can remember sitting on the floor of her kitchen, kneading the dough a hundred times until my halmoni would stick her finger in it and say 'not ready yet, 5 more minutes'. We would then tear up little pieces of dough into a simmering pot of beautifully pungent broth. My...
KOREAN SNACK BOARD 'maleun anju' 마른안주
Просмотров 38 тыс.3 года назад
MALEUN ANJU & BEER. I always see charcuterie boards trending but what about maleun anju? It’s like the Korean equivalent to a cheese board. It’s a pub snack that has been essential in our culture yet.. I never see anyone talk about it. Well, here I am talking about it because it is literally one of my go-to dinners. I also recently figured out how to elevate the experience by dipping everything...
SIMPLY KOREAN: the BEST KIMCHI recipe '포기김치'
Просмотров 474 тыс.3 года назад
If you know me at all, you know that I have a deep rooted obsession with anything kimchi. Kimchi in every form, any way, any day.. I can bathe in it. Nothing makes me happier than the pungent smell of kimchi that immediately makes my mouth water. I have been making kimchi practically my whole life. Originally with my grandmother of course- but now at my restaurants, we are producing over 100 po...
SIMPLY KOREAN: How to make the crispiest ever Kimchi pancake 'KIMCHI JEON' 김치전
Просмотров 45 тыс.3 года назад
This recipe is very special to me because it was given to me by my grandmother. I tweaked it and tested out the batter many times to perfect it. Different combinations and portions of flours & starches.. it took a while but I was able to come up with the best tasting jeon ever. My favorite part of any type of Korean pancake is definitely the crispy parts. So, i thought - why can't the whole pan...
SIMPLY KOREAN: How to make Crispy Rice Chicken 'NURUNGJI CHICKEN' 누룽지치킨
Просмотров 39 тыс.3 года назад
Nurungji chicken 누룽지치킨 typically in Korea this is usually done on a rotisserie in a wood fired oven and served w cheese corn. Not everyone has that luxury so this is a very easy version that you can do at home (you’re welcome!). Every person that I have made this for is absolutely obsessed, and has asked me for the recipe. Also people that I have shared the recipe with have been making it const...

This dish is my mom's favorite thing that I make for her. She craves it all the time and asks me to make it for her whenever I go visit her. This is one of my classic 'Koritalian' = Korean Italian. Koreans eat seaweed soup 'miyeok guk' on their birthday. It's because when a mother gives birth to their child, she is supposed to eat miyeok guk to bring her body back to life. It is traditional that new moms eat miyeok guk for days after having her child, and therefore you eat it on your birthday. This is a super clean vegan version of the dish. You can use beef, seafood or any protein you re...

LA Kalbi has to be a childhood comfort food for many Korean Americans. Like many dishes, every family has their own unique KBBQ marinade. I love adding fruit to my kalbi marinade as I feel that it really helps to break down the meat and keep it super juicy & tender. Hope you enjoy this recipe. 2lbs short ribs (LA KALBI), flanken cut usually about 1/4inch thick 1/2 Asian pear 5 cloves Garlic 1in...

Love you vids as always but you really need someone better to shoot and edit your videos. 2:10 the BGM used had a sudden drop which gave plp the impression of a comedic ending but its not... 8:10 to 8:11 in just one second I can see your guys have totally diffrent camera setting making me wonder which red color of your kimchi was the correct one... the vibrant red one or the brownish dark one... anyhow nice recipe and would love to try it out.

I watched tons of Korean shows and I actually picked up the language, Lol.. and in most shows they have kimchi so I decided that I want to try it because it really looks delicious. I bought a jar and oh my God it has so much garlic. My stomach turned. Is there any way of enjoying kimchi without, the extreme Garlic flavor? I would love to know because my stomach turns every time and I can’t enjoy that dish.

I read and watched dozens of Kimchi Pancake recipes looking for one that would be delicious *and* crispy. I knew, once I stumbled across yours, that I'd struck gold. While I didn't follow the recipe exactly, I stuck to the most important part -- the dry ingredient ratio of 1 part AP flour:1/2 part rice flour:1/4 part cornstarch. I cannot express how satisfied I was with how my jeon turned out. It was super tasty and maintained its crispness even after it had cooled completely. Thank you so much for sharing! Now, I have to look through your other recipes. 😅
